I had heard about Bluetiful in some of the dahlia chats I follow and the praise for this variety piqued my interest so I hunted her down. Her color is somewhat unique in that she falls in the lilac-purple range but with a definite blue toning that makes her very different than any other purple I grow without falling into the lavender category. Click on and zoom in on the photo and you’ll see what I mean.

Though she comes in at the shorter end of the spectrum (3-4’), her decorative form and 5” blooms definitely get noticed in the garden. A strong grower and good tuber producer, she goes right until a hard frost.
