Copper Boy needed two seasons in my garden to really take off but I think it was because I had purchased her from a grower in the south (I find my dahlias do better their first year when purchased from New England growers). I’m glad that I didn’t give up and gave her a second chance- she’s such an unusual color and a long lasting bloom producer. I love watching her bloom color change as she completely unfurls.
She comes in at around 3’ in my garden and once she starts producing her 3” burnt coppery blooms, she goes until frost. Her color adds a rich tonality however you use her and she makes magic happen in your Fall garden.
